frequently asked questions
Moving, organizing or managing a home transition comes with a lot of questions.
Below are the things people ask us most often about how Taylored Spaces Design works, what projects cost, how involved you need to be, and what our team can take off your plate.
Not sure which service you need? Start with a conversation. Tell us what is happening and we will help you figure out the right next step.
Moves
What does full-service move management include?
Full-service move management means we manage the move around you, not just the boxes.
We help you declutter before packing, plan what is going where, professionally pack the home, hire and manage the movers, coordinate storage and specialty items, oversee move day, then unpack, organize and set up the new home.
We can also coordinate installers, cleaners, handymen and other vendors, stock kitchens and household essentials, make the beds and get the everyday details in place.
The goal is for you to walk into a home that is ready to live in, not a house full of boxes.
How is a move manager different from a moving company?
A moving company's primary job is getting your belongings from one home to another.
We manage everything around that move.
Our professional organizers think about where things are going, how they will be unpacked, and how the new home needs to function once you arrive. We also coordinate the movers, storage, specialty items, vendors, unpacking, organizing and setup.
The movers are an important part of the process, but they are only one part of it.
What you are paying us for is not the hours. It is not having to carry the entire move in your head.
How involved do I need to be?
Very little, unless you want to be.
Many of our clients are working, traveling or handling everything else in their lives while our team manages the move.
We make the day-to-day decisions we can make confidently and bring you in when we genuinely need your input. If you have an assistant, estate manager or other representative, we can work primarily through them as well.
The goal is to take as much of the move off your plate as possible.
Can I hire you without the movers?
Yes.
If you already have movers or prefer to book them yourself, we can handle the organizing work around them.
Packing & Unpacking starts at $15,000. We professionally pack and organize the home before the move, then unpack, organize and set everything up on the other side.
Unpacking & Set Up starts at $10,000 if you only need us once the truck arrives.
For full-service move management, including the movers, projects start at $25,000.

Organizing
How is home organizing priced?
We price organizing by team and by day.
Smaller team days start at $1,400. Most projects use our Signature team of three to four professional organizers at $2,500 per day.
Whole-home organizing starts at $15,000. For a smaller home, that generally gives us about six Signature team days to work through the space properly. Larger homes, more belongings or more complex projects may require a larger team or additional days.
After the consultation, we send you a written proposal with the recommended team, estimated number of days and project fee.
Products, materials and outside services are additional when needed.
Why do you price by the team instead of by the hour?
Because the point is to get the work done, not to keep you on the clock.
A trained team can work in several areas at once. Sorting, editing, organizing and setup can happen side by side, which allows us to accomplish much more in a day than one person working room by room.
Your proposal shows you the team we recommend, the day rate and the estimated number of days based on the scope we see at the consultation.
Do I need to be home while you organize?
Usually, no.
Some clients want to be involved in every decision. Others are at work, traveling or doing something entirely different while our team works.
We pull everything out, group like with like, and save the decisions that actually need you. Rather than stopping you every few minutes, we can collect those questions and review them with you together.
Our goal is to require as little of your time as possible while still getting the decisions that genuinely need your input.
What happens to the things I don't keep?
We help you get them out of the house.
We can coordinate donations and haul-away as we work so you are not left with piles to deal with after the organizing project is finished.
If there are higher-value items that make sense to consign, we can coordinate with an outside consignor, such as The RealReal.
We do not individually photograph, list and sell items on resale platforms ourselves.
Do you buy the bins, shelving and closet systems?
Yes.
We design the organizing systems around the way you actually use the space, then source and order the products needed to make those systems work.
That may include bins, drawer organizers, shelving, closet products or other storage solutions. When installation is needed, we can also coordinate the appropriate installer or handyman.
Products, materials and outside installation are billed separately from our organizing fee. We talk through the plan with you before we start purchasing.
Can you set up a home after a renovation or prepare one for sale?
Yes.
After a renovation, we can unpack and set up kitchens, closets and everyday spaces so the home becomes functional again instead of leaving you surrounded by boxes.
Before a home is listed, we can declutter, organize, coordinate donations and haul-away, and clear the spaces that need to be ready for the stager, photographer or real estate team.
Will the organizing system last?
That is what we design it for.
We build systems around the way you naturally use your home, not around what looks good in a photograph.
If putting something away takes too many steps or does not make sense for the person using the space, the system becomes difficult to maintain.
Our goal is to make putting things away feel as easy and intuitive as possible. That is what makes the system easier to maintain over time.

Estate & Trust
What do you handle in an estate transition?
We manage the physical side of the transition so the family, trustee or professional team does not have to coordinate every piece themselves.
That may include creating a room-by-room photo inventory before anything moves, sorting belongings, coordinating decisions among beneficiaries, packing and shipping items to family members, arranging donations, coordinating storage, documenting where items went, and clearing the property.
We can also help prepare the home for listing, sale or handover once the belongings have been addressed.
The exact scope depends on what the estate, trustee or family needs us to manage.
How is an estate or trust transition priced?
We price each estate project after a walkthrough because no two transitions are the same.
We look at the size of the home, how much needs to be inventoried, what is staying, what is leaving, where belongings need to go, and how many people or outside specialists will be involved.
Then we send a written proposal with the recommended scope, order of work, schedule and Taylored Spaces Design project fee.
Products, shipping, storage and outside specialists may be additional depending on the project.
Do you appraise items or run estate sales?
No.
We do not appraise property, run estate sales, or give legal or tax advice.
When those services are needed, we can coordinate the appropriate outside specialists, including estate liquidators, auction houses, appraisers, and specialists in areas such as fine art, wine, jewelry and antiques.
Can you work directly with the attorney, trustee or family office?
Yes.
Executors, trustees, attorneys, fiduciaries, business managers and family offices are often our primary point of contact.
At the beginning of the project, we establish who has decision-making authority, who needs updates, and how communication should work.
You have one primary point of contact on the Taylored Spaces Design side. When an outside specialist is required, that provider may have a separate agreement or invoice depending on the service.
How do you protect the family's privacy?
Every member of our team is background-checked, NDA-signed and trained in-house. Taylored Spaces Design is fully bonded and insured.
We routinely work inside private homes and around personal records, valuables and family belongings. Discretion is part of the job.
We do not publicly identify clients or use photos from their homes or projects without permission.

Getting Started
How do I get started?
Start with a free phone call.
Tell us about the home, what is happening and what you need help with. We will talk through the project, answer your questions and determine the right next step.
If we are a good fit, we schedule an in-home consultation.
Call or text (818) 570-2841, or email hello@tayloredspacesdesign.com.
What does the in-home consultation cost?
The in-home consultation is $250, and that amount is credited toward your project if you move forward with us.
A project lead walks the space with you, asks questions and takes the notes, measurements and photos we need to understand the scope.
There is nothing special you need to do to prepare. We would rather see the home the way you actually live in it.
What happens after the consultation?
We put together a written proposal with the recommended scope, schedule and Taylored Spaces Design project fee.
For full-service moves, the proposal also includes the movers when they are part of our scope.
Products, materials and outside trades may be additional, and some needs do not become clear until the project is underway.
When something additional comes up, we let you know what is needed and what it will cost before moving forward.
Who will be working in my home?
You will have a team lead overseeing the project and serving as your point of contact.
Every member of our team is background-checked, NDA-signed and trained in-house. Taylored Spaces Design is fully bonded and insured.
We size the team to the project. Some projects need a small crew, while larger projects may have teams of up to 10 people so more can happen at once.
Founder Taylor Greenwood has more than 15 years of professional organizing experience.
Can you work directly with my assistant, estate manager or representative?
Absolutely.
We regularly work with assistants, estate managers, family members, trustees and other representatives.
At the start of the project, we establish who makes decisions, who needs updates and when we genuinely need to involve you.
If you would rather have us work primarily through your representative and only bring you in when your input is necessary, we are very comfortable working that way.
What areas do you serve?
Taylored Spaces Design is based in Los Angeles and works throughout the city, including the Westside, the Valley, Central Los Angeles and surrounding communities.
We are also happy to travel farther for the right project. Depending on the location, additional travel fees may apply.
For move projects involving New York, we also have a small team that primarily serves Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Not sure if we come to your area? Reach out and tell us where you are and what you need.
not sure where to start?
Tell us what is happening.
You do not need to know which service you need or have every detail figured out before you call. Tell us about the home, the timeline and what you need help with, and we will determine the right next step together.
